A namespace is a group name for some collection of articles. The namespace is used as a prefix for the article, and is a part of its name. For example, an article in the namespace Model is named Model:ArticleName.
By using namespaces you gain some benefits:
- Descriptive name on the article
- Posibility to search in the namespace alone in the Advanced Search
- With the extension Preloader you can suggest a stub for each newly created article in a certain namespace.
Define Namespaces
The namespace need to be defined in the file LocalSettings.php. It is well-described on wikipedia; http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Using_custom_namespaces
